Terra Services is a contract firm that specializes in clearing right-of-way
for geophysical exploration and site development. They operate two Brown Bear
FS4000 shredder units in south and east

§
Reduces trees and shrubs up to
§ Reduce tire punctures, leaves mulch and smooth stumps - not sharp stobs.
§ Reduce landowner complaints
§ Reduce liability from flying debris.
§ Reduce overall operating costs.
§ Reduce extra safety personnel to stop traffic.

§ The only manufacturer of complete units, tractor, and flail heads.
§ Redesigned head for better mulching efficiency.
§ Redesigned to discharge material down and under the machine with minimal unidirectional front discharge.
§ SAE standard parts, not metric.
§ Specifically designed swing out radiator and cooling systems, with onboard air compressor for easy maintenance.
§ Productivity of up to 3 acres per hour, depending on population, wood density, size of material and terrain.
§ Rotor is powered by a variable displacement hydrostatic pump which drives a fixed displacement motor. Final drive is through a toothed belt drive on the rotor end. Sealed rotor bearings.
§ The newly designed head incorporates cutter overlap and allows for quick changing of individual teeth.
§ Tip to tip cutting diameter of the rotor is 28 inches and the rotor is available in two different styles: swinging flair cutter and fixed tooth cutter.

The flail rotor is equipped with 54 sharpened, heat treated cutters, each independently, rotatively pin mounted. The cutters are positioned in the drum by centrifugal force. Should the cutter deflect, it is free to rotate 360 degrees around the pin mount to minimize damage. Each cutter is overlapped on both sides by another cutter to deliver flat cut stumps. One hundred percent of the cut width is cut by a cutter.
ITAM –
Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) operates the FS4000 with fixed tooth rotor in clearing troop and tank training and range areas for the Tenth Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York.

The fixed tooth rotor is equipped with 78 fixed carbide teeth. Each tooth is overlapped on both sides by another tooth to deliver flat cut stumps. One hundred percent of the cut width is cut by a tooth.

BC283
Brush Cutter

Brown Bear Corporation has introduced a scaled down version of its self-propelled brush and tree shredder as an attachment for skid steer loaders with high flow auxiliary hydraulics. The Model BC283 utilizes the same size rotor, cutters and pins as used on the large machine. Field testing indicates the Model BC283 easily handles up to 3-4" hardwoods, with 6" being maximum, and easily cuts and shreds up to 6" soft woods like evergreen. The BC283 will clear next to fence lines, pastures, wood lots and pipeline and utility right-of-way.
§ Universal skid loader hitch and flat face hydraulic couplers.
§ Fits most skid loaders with high flow hydraulics (requires 25-55 GPM at up to 4500 PSI).
§ Reduces tire punctures, leaves smooth stumps, not sharp stobs.
§ Adjustable multi-position skid shoes allow adjustable cut height.
§ Reduces liability from flying debris.
§ Discharges material down and under the machine with minimal unidirectional front discharge.
§ SAE standard parts, not metric.
§ Flail rotor with individually pinned, heat treated "U" shaped steel cutters.
§ Fixed tooth rotor with carbide tipped steel quick change teeth.
§ Final drive through a toothed belt drive.
§ Dynamically balanced rotors.
§ Sealed rotor bearings.

Brown Bear can custom design
mounts for the BC283 cutter that allow for customer/dealer installation of excavator
quick- attach systems for mounting on excavators with hydraulic flow rates of
25-40 GPM and operating pressures up to 5000 psi. Cut areas inaccessible
to wheeled vehicles, clear vegetation in ditches and along banks and slopes.
